T&S House: A home for a new family
T&S House, nestled in the heart of Bandar Bukit Raja, is a new home designed by CSY Architect for a blossoming family. This residence embraces their love for nature and maximizes daylight within its indoor spaces.
Original layout creates a gloomy indoor atmosphere
The existing site layout resulted a dark interior due to the limited openings and a small backyard, which many considered suitable only for a laundry area. However, the architect transformed this seemingly insignificant space into a key feature of the house.
Removing walls leads to a remarkable transformation
By removing several walls, an open plan was adopted to create a spacious living and dining area. A folding door was introduced at the open deck and courtyard to seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor spaces. The dry kitchen benefits from natural light borrowed from the dining area and wet kitchen, ensuring it is well-lit during the day.
Turning insignificant to significant
Instead of a laundry yard, the architect transformed the space into a courtyard haven for a family with a love for nature. The architect ingeniously utilized both the aesthetic appeal and translucent properties of the vent blocks, which permit ample airflow while maintaining privacy from the backlane.
Crafting a cozy and bright interior with natural hues and materials
The interior was thoughtfully designed to combine natural timber lamination with soft, soothing tones, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Subtle patterned tiles were one of the approaches used to add a gentle highlight to the kitchen without overwhelming the space.

The folding door and open courtyard not only bring more daylight into the home but also provide a garden view for the indoor space, replacing what would otherwise be an enclosed wall.
Splash of green enhances playful and productive
The touch of green adds a playful element for children, transforming the common study room into a hobby corner where they can read books or play with toys. Meanwhile, the color also imparts a vibrant energy to the working couples who use the space as a study room.
Modern master bedroom as a parental retreat
Despite the deep love parents have for their children, it’s important to have a dedicated space for alone time. To create a sanctuary just for the parents, the architect designed the master bedroom with a distinct character, separate from the common areas. The modern essence of clean lines, minimalism, and an uncluttered design provides a visually appealing and calming environment for the parents.
