Zucco Design’s Salon Retreat
Hair salon provides a space to relax, enjoy some alone time, scroll through your phone, and engage in conversations, all while entrusting your hair to professionals. Zucco Design aims to elevate this experience for customers at Alive Salon through design.
Warm tones and organic shapes create a welcoming atmosphere
The designer selected warm and neutral colors to create a relaxed atmosphere, reinforcing the salon as a place of tranquility. Curved edges throughout the space visually soften the environment, further enhancing the sense of relaxation. Additionally, soft, warm-toned lighting was carefully chosen to contribute to the calming mood.

Optimizing space for seamless service flow
In a single-storey narrow shop, Zucco employed the concept of layering to optimize the layout for various services. The front tier features a welcoming waiting area and reception, ensuring that customers are greeted without obstructing the main service space. The prime service area occupies the second layer, with strategically arranged seating stations against the wall that provide ample space for professionals to work efficiently while allowing new customers to walk in comfortably. The hair washing corner is tucked away at the very end, offering a private setting away from the public area.
Incorporating industrial elements to showcase professionalism in hair styling
A hair stylist doesn’t just possess a single pair of scissors, but rather a collection, akin to a Japanese chef, reflecting the intricate technical demands of their craft. Zucco aims to underscore this emphasis on precision by incorporating industrial elements into the furniture and lighting, fostering a sense of professionalism that instills trust in every customer.
Opting for vinyl flooring for easy maintenance
In anticipation of potential hair dye spills that could mar traditional flooring materials, the designer made a strategic choice by implementing vinyl flooring. Unlike conventional tiles or timber flooring, vinyl offers the advantage of easy replacement for stained sections, minimizing both the inconvenience and cost associated with upkeep.
