Slide & Hide: Doors that Won’t Cost You a “Wall-et”
The adoption of sliding doors has emerged as a popular trend for revealing spaces in home, providing a sophisticated alternative to traditional swing doors. Given its widespread application in construction, various methods for installing sliding doors have been developed.
Sliding Door Becomes A Saving Tool For Designers In Spatial Arrangment
A compact area that may appear inconvenient and impractical can be transformed into a functional space simply by altering the door. Often, designers need to allocate a specific area for the swing of a door, posing a significant challenge in a confined space where every centimeter matters. In contrast, sliding doors eliminate this requirement through their sliding mechanism.
Method 1: Creating A Pelmet For Sliding Track
The external pelmet method is generally favored by most contractors for its easy installation and cost-effectiveness. Nevertheless, the visibility of this pelmet may not be appealing to designer who is seeking a minimalistic approach.
Method 2: Recessed Sliding Track Giving A Minimalist Look
The recessed track method offers an effective solution to the issue of a visible pelmet, concealing the entire mechanism within the ceiling and only revealing a slim gap for the sliding door to operate. With the track discreetly hidden, the overall appearance is significantly cleaner and more functional. However, for users seeking a truly minimal look where the door panel is not visible, this method may not be considered perfect.
Method 3: Thicken Wall To Create A Pocket Door To Hide Sliding Door
Typically employed for sliding pocket doors, this method provides the opportunity to seamlessly connect two spaces without the visible presence of a door. The thickened wall resulting from attaching a pocket door casing to a wall not only creates an awkward appearance with two misaligned walls but also increases the cost by requiring the construction of a casing on top of a new wall.
Method 4: Using Slide & Hide Pocket Door Casing & Mechanism For A Cost-Efficient and Minimal Design Sliding Door
Slide & Hide has introduced an innovative sliding door hack to enhance the approach to minimal design. This involves a modular special pocket door casing that can be independently installed without the need to butt against a wall. Consequently, there is no longer a requirement to thicken walls for casing creation, resulting in a more cost-efficient solution.
