Busy with projects? Nah… Bruce’s hobby in Tea Art helped him in balancing his hectic Architecture life
Founded by Ar. Tan Wei Han (Bruce), WH Tan Architect is an architectural firm. Ar. Tan graduated from UTM with a Bachelor of Architecture and started this firm in 2016. Having garnered experience in his early career with leading firms such as Architects 61 Sdn Bhd and DP Architects Sdn Bhd, Bruce has immersed himself in a diverse range of local and international projects.
Bruce believes that architecture is not just about creating structures; it is about creating meaningful spaces that inspire, uplift, and contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities. We were made to understand that Bruce actively engages himself with the staff and users on the ground to have a glimpse of what goes beyond the standard design.
Participating in the everyday workflow of users, such as doctors, medical officers, and nurses, allowed Bruce to gain a better understanding of how architectural design could refine their workflow. “You will never know that a simple chamfered wall alone can reduce trolley crashes during emergencies by 50%!” Bruce emphasized during our dialogue with him.
Our aim is to create designs that inspire, uplift, and most importantly stand the test of time.
The firm strives to design spaces that go beyond functionality, incorporating elements of beauty, harmony, and sustainability. They believe that every building, every space, has the potential to tell a story, to foster a sense of belonging, and to enhance the quality of life.
Under Bruce’s leadership, WHTan Architects is now handling various genre of projects. Project ranging from Villa, Petrol Station to Hospital.

In parallel to his architectural endeavors, Bruce’s passion for the art of Chinese tea adds another dimension to his journey
In addition to his professional pursuits, Bruce has a passion for collecting tea and tea wares, immersing himself in the rich history and diverse flavors of tea from various eras. His collection includes tea leaves from the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and the present day.
Additionally, he also collects tea wares, with a particular interest in pieces from the Qing dynasty to modern designs. This harmonious blend of architecture and tea reflects Bruce’s appreciation for both timeless traditions and contemporary creativity.
